kate and laura… and speaking of academy awards… should have been nominated for black swan.  they are amazing.

even though exit through the gift shop did not win an oscar, and we will now never know who banksy is…. here is a little something in honor of the graffiti genius.  we did all of our windows at CAPITOL banksy style… more pictures coming soon.

i came across this online and showed it to michael because it looked like roxy and just because it made me laugh. wrong move on my part. now michael will not stop talking about getting a tattoo of roxy.  people help me talk my husband out of this craziness (no offense hand model in this picture.)

brice and kim took us to oktoberfest with them at this old barn.  i do not drink beer, so that was out of the picture for me.  i was entertained with taking shots of the barn and random items.  i told my brother i was going to do a blog on it, and he said “yea… you do not blog for months and then all of a sudden you have like ten in six hours.”  well brice, these are my six hours.

my mom and dad took michael, my sister and me to miyami, where they cook in front of you and give you a show.  our chef was hilarious and the food was so good.  the shrimp sauce would be consumed by me every day if it were not triple my recommended daily calories.

is someone else’s treasure

while i was at home, my friend erin and i went to carolina collectables.  erin has the most amazing taste.  she can find random things and make them fit into a space just like that were made to go there.  i was snapping pictures of all the goodies that caught my eye.  i ended up with a wooden vanity chair that i will paint and recover.  erin ended up with this ornate gold frame that was super awesome, both at super awesome prices.

was over at my aunt’s office working on our jewelry ideas and snapped some pictures of some of her fun clutches, change purses and wristlets.  she also did ipad cases, passport holders and business card holders in the stingray stamped leather (pictured last) go to her website here.

halloween

i made michael go to the pumpkin patch with me and be excited about it.  i told him we have to celebrate all the holidays to the full extent our first year being married.  we got a big one to put outside, a small one to put inside with our indian corn stalks and one small one to make into a jack-o-lantern (which i am too embarrassed to even post.)  i did make some spicy pumpkin seeds though, which were tasty.  i looked up bobby flay’s recipe and made do with what i had in the pantry.

michael’s three brothers have birthdays all within a week.  kyle’s september 30th, keith’s october 4th, david’s october 5th.  we went to spartanburg to celebrate with dinner followed by strawberry and chocolate cake.

my friend whitney gave me her amazing guacamole recipe.  here it is…

Whit’s

Guacamole

4 avocados

8 dashes tabasco

4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1/2 red onion

1 medium tomato

1 clove garlic

salt & pepper to taste

-scoop out avocados into large bowl

-mix chopped red onion and garlic, lemon juice, tabasco

-use a sharp knife and chop away

-mix in tomato

-add salt & pepper

lauren’s brother, michael, told us about this place called lupies.  it is sort of a hole in the wall kind of place you would not ever know about unless someone tells you. it was good home cookin kind of food. we had a salad with the good kind of ranch dressing. you know what i am talking about. then i had the chili mac which was just their texas chili (so hot) with spaghetti noodles (the good thick kind) tons of cheddar cheese and cornbread. does not get much better than that. michael had the bbq sandwich, cole slaw and mac and cheese. i highly recommend you try it out.

lemonade

i begged michael to get some ginger ale and simply raspberry lemonade when he was at the store the other day. it is my favorite, and whenever we get it, we go through it in like two days.

the walkers

julie, david, david, lauren, levi and zoe came up to charlotte on saturday. we went to zada janes, to southpark and then came back to our place for a little while. it was so good seeing them, and these kids are just too cute.

my jams

when writing my post on my all time favorite songs, my plan was to have a link to all of them so you could hear the goodness for yourself. so i finally did it. i am going to admit that it was really hard. i knew starting this task at 10:00 at night was not going to allow me to listen to the entirety of each song. can you imagine, hearing that first little bit of one of your favorite songs and then having to move on. it was such a tease, but i do hope you enjoy them.  here is a link to the post, so you do not have to go searching for it yourself. just click on the name of the song (its in green) and it takes you to a youtube. yes some of them are super random videos.
