someone else’s trash
is someone else’s treasure
while i was at home, my friend erin and i went to carolina collectables. erin has the most amazing taste. she can find random things and make them fit into a space just like that were made to go there. i was snapping pictures of all the goodies that caught my eye. i ended up with a wooden vanity chair that i will paint and recover. erin ended up with this ornate gold frame that was super awesome, both at super awesome prices.
i have a new obsession. 1stdibs and this william “billy” haines sofa. i want it so bad. michael and i just found our condo in uptown last week and now it is time to get some goods to go inside. i want all the milo baughman and t.h. robsjohn-gibbings pieces. who am i kidding, i want all the 20th century pieces.
tomme sent me the rest of our engagement pictures. i can not put them all up, but i will probably squeeze a few in here and there. we had fun. she is amazing. the first picture caused me to rip my new nina ricci dress. so sad. but it was worth the shot, and it can always get it fixed.
the walls on the back of a run down grocery store on james island have been covered with the most amazing graffiti i have ever seen. it is all done with spray cans. here was the newest installation. from what i hear the artist is called sheepman. if you are ever on your way to folly beach and pass buffalo south on your right turn in and go behind the building. you will be impressed. this must be a clemson tiger.
i heard that domino magazine is going to be no more. i really hope that is a dirty rumor. since i was not sure if it was or not i decided to go buy domino the book of decorating. i always love the ideas and pictures of homes in the magazine, and i already have enough vogues, british vogues, every other vogues, bazzar and elles to keep up with. i also have started a nice little collection of coffee table books, so this will fit in perfectly. i can not wait until i get a house one day and use some of the great ideas.
charlotte moss’ leather bound mini volumes labeled short weekends, long weekends and vacations is so adorable. it is such a low tech way to record memories, reminders and even gossip. i keep a journal of my everyday thoughts, dreams, experiences, ideas and things i need to get off my chest. it is something that only i see and read so it does not matter what i need to write, i can write it. sometimes it is nice to get away from the world of high technology that we live in and just have my paper, pen and thoughts. i want a set of these journals.
